On February 2nd, COPS begins monitoring NAPCO’s Netlink NL Mods. This product creates benefits for dealers who are looking for reliable communications paths for subscribers that are moving away from traditional telephone lines to IP-based telephone solutions. Since it is truly “IP” and not “Voice over IP (VoIP)”, it is a more reliable communications method.
I. Product & Service Overview:
- NAPCO’s IP-based alarm reporting module is named the NETLINK NL MOD. It “front ends” digital dialer alarm panels to allow them to report in true IP format via the internet
- While the NL MOD interfaces best with the NAPCO Gemini series of panels (connects via Serial port), it can be used with the older NAPCO Magnum Alert panels and panels made by other manufacturers. Panels DO NOT need to send Contact ID, but signals sent via this IP device will output in Contact ID. Dealers should contact NAPCO for details.
- The NL MOD is tied into the existing alarm system panel (how depends on the panel type, again – contact NAPCO) outputs and collects alarm signals, then transmits in Contact ID via IP to COPS
- The modules can be programmed with primary and back up IP addresses
II. Receiver & Related Details
- There are two TCP/IP rack-mounted NAPCO NETLINK receivers hooked up to our automation system that meet the UL hot redundancy requirements.
- This is secure internet alarm reporting utilizing two different carriers for redundant reporting path purposes.
- The receiver IP address is static
